Three forces acting on an object are given by F1 = (-2.00i + 2.00j) N, F2 = (5.00i-3.00j) N, F3= (-45.0i)N. The object experiences an acceleration of magnitude 3.75m/s^2. (a) What is the direction of the acceleration? Net force, F = F1+F2+F3 = (-2.00i + 2.00j) N + (5.00i-3.00j) N + (-45.0i)N = (-42i - j) N Therefore direction of acceleration is along -42i-j (b) What is the mass of the object? Mass, m = F/a = sqrt[(-42)^2 + (-1)^2] / 3.75 = 11.203kg (c) If the object is initially at rest, what is its speed after 10 s? v = u + at Speed, v = 0 + (3.75)(10) = 37.5m/s (d) What are the velocity components of the object after 10s? Velocity = 37.5 (-42i - j)/sqrt[(-42)^2 + (-1)^2] = (-37.49i - 0.88j ) m/s
